My Insta pal, the fabulous artist Georgina Westley, got in touch to ask if I could make a brooch for her friend, who had just bought a super-cute midcentury bungalow.
Georgina didn't have to ask me twice, because 1) bungalows and 2) I've been meaning to experiment with a dinky-er-style bungalow shape for ages so this was the perfect reason to finally get making one!

I decided to laser etch walnut to suggest the brickwork, and I used a lighter lime wood for the panelled section above and below the left window. The home-owner's home featured a green section but in discussion with Georgina we decided to keep the panelling plain, so the recipient could always paint their brooch if they decided to change their house's colour!

I really love this house shape and the pleasing sense of balance it has. I was especially happy with how the roof line turned out, with the slightly inset white fascia!

As you can see below the brooch was well received, which is always such a nice feeling.
